Vice Chair, Friends of Queen Margaret Hospital
Since retiring from my 38 year career in financial services and closing down my personal training business, I have concentrated on my hobbies, one of which is needlework and crochet. This has led to my involvement with the Friends of Queen Margaret Hospital charity which raises money to support otherwise unfunded projects. Our aim is to provide extra comforts and amenities for patients and staff within the Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
I have recently been appointed Vice Chair of the Executive Committee which oversees the activities of the charity, organizes our fundraising events and disbursements of funds.
Our most recent donations have included 3 relax chairs for the new gynaecological ward, tools and plants for the refurbishment of a garden attached to long stay and dementia wards, board games and activities for dementia patients and educational toys to be used in outreach work with non verbal children.
Our large band of knitters, crocheters and sewers provide us with a continuous supply of high quality goods – primarily clothing for babies and children – which are sold at monthly sales within the hospital foyer, at the Kingsgate Business Market in the town, and more recently at the popular Jack and Jill Market. We are developing an online catalogue and are happy to take commissions for special orders.
